On September 29th 2018 St Austell CIC successfully delivered the third Whitegold Festival as a day of workshops, demonstrations, exhibits and performances – a celebration of clay and the culture of St Austell and Clay Country. This year was part of a sustainable increase in activity, diversity of practitioners & art forms and engagement by stakeholders. Headlines include c. 12,000 visitors to White River Place on the day, 37 participating artists and 100% visitor satisfaction with the event. The project has demonstrated the viability and need for cultural activity and developing a sense of place in the area contributing to a major, £1.3 million, investment in clay culture and horticulture over the next 2 years.

The Festival was supported  financially by Arts Council England, FEAST, Imerys, Eco-Bos, St Austell Town Council, St Austell Business Improvement District, St Austell Print Company, Cornwall Councillors and Nationwide Print. There was also significant in-kind support from many others including The Eden Project, Wheal Martyn, St Austell Brewery , Cornwall College and not least by White River Place – thanks to all.
