The Scaffal Dance

The Scaffal Dance was created by The UPG Team as a new May Day celebration, responding to the industrial heritage of this area and incorporating our performance-parkour style into a traditional floral dance format. The simple aim is to raise a smile as we come out of lockdown.

The Urban Playground Team is the original performance-parkour company, combining free-running with contemporary and urban dance in performances for the whole family which have toured across five continents. 3 years ago they relocated (back) to Cornwall where they are planning to build a residential rehearsal studio – Kresen Gul Hwel – The Creation Works. This year, responding to the impact of Covid on the performing arts and in particular on graduate artists, they set up The Emergent Ensemble to retain a small group of Cornish performers in the county and in the profession. This is the crew who perform the Scaffal Dance. On the 4th September they will launch The PAR-teee – a new festival of outdoor performance hosted by Par Track.
