Plug back into your roots for a little moment of clay country chill out.

Regardless of where you are in the world, or who you are with, plug into the live stream and disappear into cool greenery, tune into wildlife and immerse yourself in the turquoise clay lakes.

Plug Back Into Your Roots combines video images, an original sound score from People String Foundation musician Ben Sutcliffe, songs and spoken word from Emily Woodman and Bec Appleby with gentle prompts and instructions to tell you some stories and take you on a wander with your feet or in your imagination to explore your surroundings.  Wherever you are plugged in from, we guarantee you will be taken somewhere else for a while!

The Plug Back Into Your Roots experience has been devised by Suzie West and SpinDrift Dance Collective weaving creative responses to Wheal Martyn Clay Works’ programme of creative hands on family activities into a mixed art performance of song, spoken word, poetry, theatre and dance which can be experienced as part of Window into Whitegold on September 19 as a live performance in the woods at Wheal Martyn, or as an immersive digital experience streamed online and available anywhere in the world.

The digital immersive experience available through Window into Whitegold will be released at 6pm on September 19 and available from this point on via our website.  The live performances are taking place at Wheal Martyn Clay works  on Sept 19 for small groups – taking into account social distancing guidelines.  These are scheduled for 12 noon, 2pm and 4pm.  Booking for these live on site shows is essential to manage visitor numbers, and can be done through www.wheal-martyn.com/events

This is a celebration of what makes our place and our community special – sharing Our Proud Roots.

Our Proud Roots performance was co-commissioned by Wheal Martyn and Window into Whitegold as part of the Austell Project and is funded by Feast, Cornwall Foundation, Cornwall Council, Cornwall Museums Partnership, Arts Council England, and Window into Whitegold as part of the Austell Project.
