St Austell Library

Open Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm and 10am – 1pm on Saturday, St Austell Library has a small amount of on-road parking in a bay at the front of the building and two disabled bays in the staff car park at the side. Polkyth pay and display car park is just a few minutes walk away.

 

As well as a large book collection, the library has computers with internet access, national and local newspapers, free wi-fi, scanning, printing and photocopying and CDs to hire.

 

St Austell Library also houses a Performing Arts Collection that provides material for music, theatre, dance, film and costume.

Par Library

Open Monday 9.30am – 5pm, Wednesday 9.30am – 1.30pm and Saturday 10am – 1pm and closed Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, Par Library has a small parking area outside and a public car park across the road.

 

The library has various additional facilities, including computers with internet access, printing and photocopying, local newspapers and free wi-fi. They also host computer classes for beginners, Proper Job help for job seekers, free adult colouring in sessions every Monday between 2pm and 4pm, Knit and Natter every Monday 10.30am – 12 noon and a Computer Buddy service every Wednesday 10am – 12 noon.

Fowey Library

Fowey Library is open 9.30am – 5pm Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, closed Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. It has its own large car park located next to the library building.

 

Facilities here include computers with internet access, free wi-fi, printing and photocopying, baby changing facilities and a meeting room for hire.

 

Baby signing sessions are held every Thursday between 10am – 10.45am for 0 – 2 year olds, as well as computer classes for beginners, Proper Job help for job seekers, Lego Club (term time only) and Fowey Readers’ Group who meet on the last Friday of each month, 10.30am – 11.30am.

Lostwithiel Library

Lostwithiel Library is open 9.30am – 5pm Monday, 1pm – 5pm Wednesday and 2pm-5pm Friday. Closed Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Parking is available throughout the town and there are some spaces outside the library.

 

The library’s additional facilities include two computers with internet access, printing and photocopying and national and local newspapers.

 

The library also hosts computer classes for beginners, reading groups, Rhyme Tome sessions for babies and their carers every Monday from 10am and Storytime for younger children on Friday at 4pm.

Mobile Library Service

 

Cornwall Council’s mobile library provides a library service to more rural areas where there is no static library or micro library.

 

Covering Roche, Trethurgy, Luxulyan, Mevagissey, Heligan, Gorran Haven, Sticker, Grampound, St Stephen-in-Brannel, Foxhole, Whitemoor and Bugle, the mobile library holds a selection of books and DVDs, CDs and music scores can be borrowed on request

 

Residents can request books for free from the Online Library Catalogue, which can be accessed here.

 

Micro Libraries 

 

A micro library is a collection of around 200 books which are intended to give a flavour of what’s available from the wider library service and can be found at a range of locations within the community.

 

Residents using the micro-library are expected to self serve and record the books they take using a manual honesty system.

 

A public computer at the venue enables customers to view the Online Library Catalogue as well as other library services open to them as library members, including the ability to request books online.
